Author: Charlotte Bishop

As ESG becomes increasingly important for businesses, Earth Observation becomes a critical tool to support the analysis. Understanding carbon stocks, offsets and contribution to limiting climate change provide positive incentives for businesses whilst also providing an overall environmental accountability at a level that has only more recently been considered widely important.
Satellite data is now being used for emissions monitoring, nature based solutions and environmental impact in a way that it has more traction and more coverage with dedicated teams focused on green energy and sustainable solutions whilst being realistic that our reliance on traditional energy sources cannot change overnight, so how do we improve our understanding of their impact and mitigate?
This presentation will look at some examples of how satellite data is being used by the energy sector to reach their ESG goals whilst also looking at the current gaps in technology and the future solutions looking to provide additional insight.
