RSPSoc Extended Call for Abstracts

The Remote Sensing & Photogrammetry Society (RSPSoc) is seeking contributions from everyone working and studying in Earth Observation and its applications.

In November 2021, the UK will be hosting COP26 in Glasgow and the Earth Observation Week 2021 will be an opportunity to showcase and explore the incredible work Earth Observation scientists are contributing to the understanding of climate change and environmental sustainability.

The Society’s virtual event will bring together world leading scientists in Earth Observation to discuss climate and environmental innovation now and in the future. Our topics will cover research in carbon in the atmosphere and forests, surface temperatures, oceans, long-term atmospheric change, and disaster management.

The virtual EO Week will combine keynote speakers with plenary presentations, oral presentations, and dedicated poster sessions/demonstrations from event supporters.

NCEO, RSPSoc and CEOI will have separate sessions throughout the week which will include talks that are 15 minutes each, followed by Q&A.

There is an opportunity for everyone to join each organisational session not just their own, for a single registration fee of £60 and RSPSoc is offering two dedicated late afternoon sessions (Tuesday 7th, Thursday 9th) for poster presentations and demonstrations from our event supporters.

To support the overarching theme, our mid-week plenary day will comprise sessions on climate and COP26, health and the Covid-19 pandemic, and disaster management.

The Thursday morning and early afternoon sessions will be dedicated to RSPSoc oral presentations. We can confirm there will be sessions covering Archaeology, Disaster Risk Management, Disaster Response, Geohazard Assessment and Mitigation, and Geological applications of EO. Abstracts for other topics are welcomed, particularly forestry, habitat monitoring and land cover mapping. Anyone wishing to submit an abstract to RSPSoc for oral or poster presentation please download the Word form from the event website eoweek2021.uk and return the completed form by email to eoweek2021@rspsoc.org.uk

The EXTENDED deadline for RSPSoc abstract submission is Saturday 31st July 2021
