GRSG Member Webinar: SatSense
Title: InSAR in Action: Monitoring Landslides, Energy Assets, and Critical Structures with Millimetre Precision
Time and Date: 12.30 BST / 13:30 CET / 07:30 EDT, 24th September 2025
Speakers: Dr. Jennifer Scoular & Dr. Nick Dodds
SatSense is a Leeds-based Earth Observation (EO) company specialising in InSAR technology. InSAR, or Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar, is a satellite-based method capable of remotely measuring ground and structural movements through time with millimetric precision.
At SatSense, we leverage decades of academic expertise to make ground motion data more accessible and actionable. We operate a nationwide InSAR map of the UK, updated every 12 days with displacement records dating back to 2015, as well as providing data for individual projects across the world.
Our applications span a wide range of use cases, including network-wide monitoring of roads and railways, addressing challenges such as problematic slopes, assessing the impacts of construction dewatering and tunnelling, and monitoring surface movements associated with subsurface fluid extraction and injection.
In this webinar, we will cover the basics of InSAR technology and how to use the data in practice through a series of case studies.
